The album arose from a Prudential Awards for the Arts prize, which provided initial funding to record three major works: by Cyril Scott, Howard Skempton and Rebecca Clarke. Added to these are more recent pieces by Sadie Harrison, Nicola LeFanu and jazz legend Tony Coe. Works do not profile the clarinet. Rather it is 'in the mix' with various combinations of strings. A bonus track is Howard Skempton’s Gemini Dances which adds flute, piano and spoons (!) to the mix.
